Hunter Valley Violins is the leading violin repair business servicing the Hunter Region and surrounding areas. With an extensive range of Violas, Violins, Cellos and Double Basses, Hunter Valley Violins, is the largest supplier of classical string instruments in Newcastle. Over the past 15 years, Hunter Valley Violins has established its reputation for combining excellence in master craftsmanship, expert knowledge and customer service. From humble beginnings in Speers Point, the company continues to expand into new markets across Australia and is currently located at 309a Hunter St, Newcastle, NSW. 
Founder
Trevor Liversidge has been making violins for over 27 years. Having trained with the highly regarded violin maker Harry Vatiliotis in 1981, Trevor continues an Australian lineage from Vatiliotis’ teacher, AE Smith. Trevor attended The Stringed Instrument Restoration Workshop at Oberlin College Ohio, USA, and, with the assistance of an Australia Council grant in 1991, spent time studying the restoration of instruments at the University of New Hampshire, USA. Trevor worked from the Lake Macquarie region for many years, and established Hunter Valley Violins in 1990. A number of musicians in the area own a “Trevor”. Currently Liversidge is employed at Animato in Brisbane, QLD and his cellos, violas and bows are played around the world. 
Current Owners
David Robertson and Samuel Crichton took joint ownership of Hunter Valley Violins in 2003 after a number of years training under Liversidge. They continued developing their craftsman skills over the following years, in collaboration with other respected violin-makers of Australia.
In 2007 Robertson, took full ownership of the business and recently travelled to Europe to observe the work of master violin-makers at Beare’s England, Jean-Francois Raffin, France and The International Violin Making School in Cremona, Italy.  |
